Volkswagen presents the new ID. Cross, an all-electric compact SUV combining stylish, powerful design, luxury-class technologies, and a well-considered overall concept in one vehicle.

At an entry price of around 28,000 euros, the ID. Cross offers a level of quality, comfort, and equipment that sets new standards in the small car and compact segment.

This shows in the interior’s feel-good ambience, achieved through finely crafted materials, fabric-covered surfaces, and high seating comfort.

The new Innovision infotainment system ensures intuitive operation and networked functions, while technologies from higher classes, three output levels (85 kW, 99 kW, and 155 kW), and two battery sizes (37 kWh and 52 kWh net) will be available. With a WLTP range of up to 427 kilometres, the ID. Cross suits everyday use and longer journeys. Advance sales in Germany begin today.

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, stated the ID. Cross brings together technological expertise, clean design, impressive solutions, and genuine all-rounder qualities—all for excellent value for money—describing these as ideal conditions for a new Volkswagen success story.

Space and Practicality Advantages

The new ID. Cross measures 4,153 mm long, 1,581 mm tall, and 1,794 mm wide, with a 2,601 mm wheelbase. Compared with the combustion-engine T-Cross, the ID. Cross—thanks to MEB+—offers more space for five passengers and their luggage.

It provides 475 litres of stowage space, 20 litres more than the T-Cross, aided by an additional area under the variable boot floor with room for up to two crates of drinks. An extra frunk under the bonnet holds a further 25 litres, ideal for the charging cable and small items.

Pure Positive Design Language

With its clear, timeless design, the ID. Cross sets new standards in the compact SUV segment. Volkswagen’s Pure Positive design language focuses on visual stability with a friendly appearance and striking details.

Characteristic elements such as the elongated ‘flying roof,’ strong C-pillar, and striking front and rear light signatures define its unmistakable look, enhanced further by optional IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlamps and 3D LED rear lights with illuminated crossbars and VW logos.

The clear design continues inside through the fabric-covered dash panel, elegant controls like the tactile metallic edge on the centre console audio controls, and the pleasant feel of all buttons and surfaces.

Digital Cockpit and Infotainment

The Digital Cockpit Pro and infotainment display are clearly arranged on a horizontal line. The Digital Cockpit Pro measures 26 cm (10.25 inches), and activating the retro display via the steering wheel view button brings up Golf I-inspired instruments—with the tachometer showing energy output or consumption as a powermeter rather than engine speed.

Modern functions such as Dynamic Road Sign Display are integrated into the 1980s-inspired layout. The central infotainment touch display measures 32.8 cm (12.9 inches), as large as a premium tablet and easily reachable by the front passenger.

MEB+ Drive and Charging

The ID. Cross uses the latest MEB+ platform, with the new APP290 drive system available in three output levels: 85 kW (116 PS), 99 kW (135 PS), and 155 kW (211 PS). The battery comes in 37 kWh and 52 kWh net sizes, with maximum AC charging of 11 kW.

The smaller battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in around 23 minutes at up to 90 kW, while the 52 kWh version charges at up to 105 kW in around 24 minutes with a particularly steady curve.

Advanced Assistance Technologies

Thanks to MEB+ and the latest software, the ID. Cross comes with cutting-edge assist systems as standard. The next-generation Connected Travel Assist, available optionally, uses online data and responds to traffic lights for the first time in this price range—automatically braking to a standstill when detecting a red light within system limits.

One Pedal Driving decelerates the SUV through accelerator regulation alone. Smart parking aids include 360-degree Area View and Park Assist Pro, which can handle parking manoeuvres fully automatically, including remote parking via smartphone.

Ride Comfort and Optional Suspension

Particular attention was paid to ride comfort and driving stability. The suspension tuned for the electric front-wheel drive combines precise, safe handling with high long-distance comfort, supported by high-quality dampers, comfort-optimised components, and noise-reduction measures.

A newly developed adaptive DCC suspension is optionally available for the 155 kW variant, continuously adjusting damping to the road surface and driving situation for a well-balanced experience.

Trim Levels and Premium Options

The basic Trend version comes standard with a 90 kW DC fast-charging function and high-quality materials throughout. The Life trim adds 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, and a rear-view camera, while the top Style model includes IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlamps, 3D LED rear lights, illuminated VW logos, heated seats and steering wheel, and keyless start.

Optional extras unavailable in the T-Cross or many competitors include a Harman Kardon sound system with 425 watts, 10 speakers, and a subwoofer, plus a pneumatic massage function for the 12-way electric front seats with three programmes—a luxury-class feature. A 74 x 90 cm panoramic roof extends into the rear.

Versatility Features

The ID. Cross includes vehicle-to-load as standard, charging devices at up to 3.6 kW—allowing e-bikes to be recharged externally via the charging socket with an optional Schuko adapter. With the 52 kWh battery, it tows trailers up to 1,200 kg gross weight.

Advance sales begin alongside the world premiere. Customers in some markets can now configure the ID. Cross in Life and Style trims with 155 kW and the 52 kWh battery from 36,525 euros, while the basic Trend version (85 kW, 37 kWh) from 27,995 euros and other variants follow soon.
