Genesis House Restaurant has opened on the second floor of Genesis House in New York’s Meatpacking District. It serves as the culinary expression of the Genesis House brand and is run with Hand Hospitality, a local group known for its carefully curated restaurants.
The menu revisits familiar Korean dishes, pairing them with seasonal ingredients and drawing on regional traditions from across the peninsula.
Three Regional Bulgogi Expressions
Bulgogi anchors the menu in three versions named for Seoul, Eonyang and Gwangyang. Each one reflects the character and preparation style of its home region.
The restaurant also built a menu meant for sharing, with seafood jeon, yukhwe, Korean fried chicken and bingsoo rounding out the offering.
Bar Cham Brings Seoul’s Cocktails to New York
Bar Cham, one of Seoul’s most acclaimed cocktail bars, becomes the restaurant’s beverage partner. It is Bar Cham’s first official restaurant partnership overseas. The drinks draw on the six regions of the Korean peninsula.
The Songpyeon blends Pungjeong Sagye Winter Soju 42, chestnut makgeolli, lemon, ginger, cinnamon and chocolate. The Cham Negroni is a negroni-inspired drink built on roasted Solomon’s seal, soju-infused dried mandarin peel, vermouth and Campari.
Joe McHugh, director of brand experience at Genesis House, said the team’s respect for heritage and its modern sensibility make Bar Cham a natural fit for the experience the restaurant is building. Byungjin Lim, co-owner and bartender at Bar Cham, said the goal is to carry what the team has built in Seoul to New York, with each cocktail telling a story about the regions, history and seasons behind it.
Reservations and Lunch Plans
Reservations for daytime tea and dinner are now open on Resy. Lunch service will be announced at a later date.
