Buick has officially opened pre-sales for the ELECTRA L7 battery electric vehicle in China, expanding its premium ELECTRA new energy lineup with a fully electric flagship alongside the extended-range ELECTRA L7 launched last year.

The all-electric version is aimed at couples and young families looking for a fully loaded sedan combining long range, ultra-fast charging and intelligent technology with a refined driving experience.

The ELECTRA L7 BEV will be offered in three variants — 702 Luxury, 702 Luxury Plus and 702 Avenir — with pre-sale pricing ranging from RMB 169,900 to RMB 206,900 after national subsidies. Customers who place a pre-sale order before August 21 will be eligible for a dedicated package of launch benefits.

New Colors Emphasize Its Electric Identity

The ELECTRA L7 BEV keeps the elegant fastback proportions and design cues of the extended-range model while introducing new exterior colors and trims to signal its all-electric status.

Two new body colors join the lineup — a deep green with warm metallic highlights and a low-saturation pink-purple — each paired with interior themes designed to balance warmth and sophistication through color, materials and ambient lighting.

800-Volt Architecture Built for Daily Use

All trims come standard with 800-volt high-voltage architecture and an 80.6-kWh battery pack supplied by CATL, delivering a CLTC range of up to 702 kilometers — enough for most drivers to follow a “charge once a week” routine for daily commuting. With 6C ultra-fast charging, the vehicle can add roughly 450 kilometers of range in about 10 minutes under suitable conditions, helping ease charging anxiety on longer trips.

The rear-mounted motor produces up to 282 kW and 382 Nm of torque, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.6 seconds in Boost mode while maintaining confident passing power even at low battery levels. A 6kW V2L external power supply can run multiple outdoor appliances simultaneously — from an electric oven and coffee machine to a projector — making camping trips and outdoor movie nights easier to pull off.

The ELECTRA L7 BEV also debuts 55°C temperature-controlled ultra-fast charging technology. Drawing on GM’s battery safety management expertise, the system keeps peak cell temperature below 55°C throughout fast charging — well under China’s 65°C national limit — supporting low battery degradation across up to 800,000 kilometers of use.

A Cabin Designed Around Wellness

Inside, the ELECTRA L7 BEV introduces a “floating de-stress cabin” concept extending comfort across the entire ride. Low noise levels, clean air and finely controlled temperature and humidity define the environment, with 6mm laminated glass and extensive sound insulation helping create a quiet cabin for conversation or music.

An automatic PM2.5 filtration system and intelligent CO2 management keep air fresh, while multi-zone climate control with automatic dehumidification maintains a comfortable atmosphere across seasons.

All main seats feature electric lumbar support, ventilation, heating and massage, with the front passenger seat offering a dual 120-degree zero-gravity lounge function for reclining at the touch of a button. A large PDLC smart panoramic roof, a 27-speaker premium audio system with headrest speakers, and an in-cabin fragrance system round out the sense of occasion.

Chassis Technology Borrowed From Higher Segments

Ride comfort draws on technology typically found in more premium segments. All models get RTD continuous damping control suspension, while higher trims add a preview “magic carpet” chassis that uses road-scanning technology to detect upcoming bumps and adjust damping in advance — making hundreds of adjustments per second to smooth out manhole covers, speed bumps and other road irregularities.

Safety Testing Beyond National Standards

Buick engineered the ELECTRA L7’s battery and vehicle safety to exceed China’s latest standards, with an enhanced battery structure featuring five-layer underbody protection against impacts from below and testing that went beyond national requirements.

A cage-type passenger safety cell, a high proportion of high-strength steel and aluminum, and extended side curtain airbags protect front and rear occupants. During development, the vehicle completed 77 crash tests, including pole impact, offset collision and truck under-ride scenarios.

Buick has sold more than 10 million vehicles in China since SAIC-GM introduced the brand there in 1998, building its position around sculptural design, refined performance and thoughtful personal technology across its lineup.
