Maserati has teamed up with Poltrona Frau In Motion — the business unit behind exclusive interiors for cars, aircraft and boats — to launch the Maserati Weekend Bag, a run of just 100 limited-edition travel bags marking the Trident’s centenary and its long history in Italian Grand Touring.

The project grew out of shared ground between the two companies: Maserati’s take on Grand Touring as a lifestyle, now expressed through the Grecale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio, and Poltrona Frau In Motion’s reputation for artisan craftsmanship and design built to outlast trends. The result is a collection that leans into craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability all at once, turning reclaimed material into something closer to a story than a product.

A Bag Made for the Grand Touring Life

Designed to travel with the same effortless elegance central to Maserati’s Grand Touring identity, the Weekend Bag takes the classic travel bag and gives it a contemporary edge.

Handcrafted entirely in Italy by Poltrona Frau In Motion using Cuoio leather, it features a structured shape, burnished metal hardware, a zip closure, and a canvas shoulder strap fitted with a Maserati-branded shoulder pad.

An embossed Trident on the front flap and a dedicated Centenary logo on the side panel nod to the brand’s history, while a blue canvas lining with a beige Trident monogram inside frames a leather-trimmed pocket holding a metal plaque engraved with each bag’s edition number — making every one of the 100 pieces individually identifiable. Even smaller touches, from the handcrafted finishing to the protective metal feet, reflect a design approach built around function, premium materials and craftsmanship.

Where the Leather Actually Comes From

What sets the bag apart is its material sourcing. Each one starts with Poltrona Frau leather originally cut for Maserati seats, fully reclaimed through a circular-economy process run by SUSTAINera, Stellantis’ Circular Economy division. The leather itself comes from tanneries holding Gold-standard certification from the Leather Working Group, an international system that evaluates tannery environmental performance based on energy use and how chemicals and water are managed during production.

The entire idea began inside StarUp, Stellantis’ global intrapreneurship programme built to turn employee-driven business ideas into real products. In that sense, the bag doubles as a case study in how innovation, craftsmanship and responsibility can work together — and how Made in Italy skills can be preserved even as materials get a second life.

Availability and Executive Comments

Giovanni Maiolo, General Manager of Poltrona Frau In Motion, said the Weekend Bag grew out of a shared vision to treat contemporary luxury as a balance between manufacturing excellence, travel culture and responsibility, calling the project a concrete way to extend the value of materials through craftsmanship.

Davide Baldini, Head of Maserati Fuoriserie and responsible for global merchandising strategy, said the collection was built to mark the Trident’s centenary by reimagining a material once destined for vehicle interiors, turning it — through a circular-economy lens — into an object that reflects Maserati’s core values of artisanal excellence, premium materials and lasting elegance. He added that the shared appreciation for savoir-faire and travel culture with Poltrona Frau In Motion produced a project that captures the essence of Grand Touring, a philosophy the brand says has tied together performance, comfort and elegance for more than a century, and one still expressed today in the Grecale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio.

The Maserati Weekend Bag will be sold exclusively to registered users of the Tridente App, currently live in select markets on the App Store and Google Play, with deliveries starting in October.
