Efficient climate control system
Several features on the Toyota C−HR+ reduce the impact of air conditioning systems on driving range, without compromising cabin comfort.
The system provides two-layer operation. Fresh air with low humidity is introduced into the upper cabin, which helps prevent fogging, while warm air is recirculated in the lower section around the occupants’ feet, improving heating performance while saving energy.
An innovative heat pump is designed for low energy consumption and high efficiency. It uses thermal energy from outside air to heat the cabin, reducing energy consumption compared to a standard system.
The air conditioning’s ECO mode focuses heating on the driver when other seats are unoccupied, with air volume and temperature controlled and seat and steering wheel heaters engaged. This provides a warm space while conserving charge.
The latest eAxles
High output is achieved thanks to the latest lightweight Toyota eAxles – consisting of inverter, motor and transaxle. They feature new-generation silicon-carbide (SiC) semiconductors, which operate with greater efficiency and produce higher power, while also being lighter and more compact.
They are more efficient than the previous silicon type in handling high voltages, operating at high temperatures and delivering higher outputs.
The unit’s design, as well as its cooling and lubrication systems, minimises energy losses, delivers superior power and stability, as well as quieter performance.
Battery structure
To provide customers with fast charging options, all Toyota C−HR+ models feature a high-capacity lithium-ion battery.
As with the bZ4X, the 57.7 kWh battery has 78 cells, while the high-capacity unit has 104 cells. They are supplied by Prime Planet Energy & Solutions (PPES), a joint venture company owned by Toyota Motor Corporation (51%) and Panasonic Corporation (49%) established in 2019.
High-speed battery charging
Toyota offers 150 kW DC charging across the full Toyota C−HR+ line-up, supported for consistent high performance across a wide range of temperature, particularly in cold conditions, through battery control systems and a pre-conditioning system.

To offer more charging practicality and convenience, an 11 kW onboard AC charger is included as standard while the High grade benefits from even faster charging with a 22 kW unit, which reduces recharge time by around half.
| Charging type | Charging time 10-80% SoC (at 20°C) |
| 11 kW AC | 4 hr 48 min |
| 22 kW AC | 2hr 12 min |
| 150 kW DC | 28 min |
Battery pre-conditioning
Battery pre-conditioning supports a targeted fast DC charging time from 10% to 80% of below 30 minutes in temperatures as low as -10°C, 20 minutes faster than charging without pre-conditioning.
The system uses a water-to-water heat exchanger to heat all cells evenly, allowing for higher charging power and consistent operation.
Battery pre-conditioning can be activated via a choice of three different modes: manually via the multimedia system, scheduled in advance to start at a specific time, or implemented automatically when navigating to a charging station via the navigation system.
EV routing
Drivers can confidently use the vehicle’s full driving range with peace of mind thanks to a dedicated BEV navigation function. This automatically proposes the optimum charging stations on a route, based on the battery’s state of charge and remaining driving range.
The function is dynamic, so recommendations are updated in real time, based on the car’s actual energy consumption during the drive.
Battery cooling and heating for consistent performance
Like battery pre-conditioning, battery cooling and heating maintain an optimum battery temperature for efficient performance. A water-cooling arrangement uses refrigerant from the car’s air conditioning system to reduce the battery coolant temperature.
The cooler operates from the battery’s lower surface so that each cell is cooled evenly. The standard provision of a heat pump in the air conditioning system ensures energy-efficient performance.
The battery heating function provides uniform heating of all the cells, with consistent operation even in very low temperatures, helping to reduce charging time.
Battery information transparency
The driver is kept up-to-date on key battery performance data with new functions integrated into the 7-inch combimeter.
These include current, real-time charging power, and the time remaining to reach 80% state of charge (SoC). Furthermore, an indicator showing the battery’s state of health gives the driver full transparency of the battery condition and remaining capacity.
AWD: POWER AND CONTROL
- Combined 343 DIN hp (252 kW) output and 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds
- New turning control system
- Towing capacity increased to 1,500 kg
Maximum performance with eTNGA
The Toyota C−HR+ expresses its true character and maximum performance in all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration. The eTNGA platform allows the addition of a rear eAxle for a dual eAxle arrangement which delivers genuine AWD capabilities.
The result is one of the most powerful vehicles in Toyota’s European line-up, outside of the GR range of sports cars, with a combined system output of 343 DIN hp (252 kW) and acceleration of 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
Power distribution system
A more stable, secure AWD drive is established via a turning control system which actively distributes torque between the front and rear wheels.

It predicts the line a driver intends taking through a bend, based on factors such as vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The level of torque is automatically controlled to secure stable and controllable performance appropriate to the conditions.
Towing capacity
In AWD specification, the Toyota C−HR+ can tow braked trailers up to 1,500 kg, delivering true SUV practicality.
A RESPONSIVE, ENGAGING AND QUIET DRIVE
- Underfloor battery lowers centre of gravity and enhances torsional rigidity

- Regenerative braking options for tailored driver engagement
- Insulation and noise dampening for a peaceful all-electric ride
eTNGA platform
Toyota’s dedicated eTNGA battery electric vehicle architecture is specifically designed for BEVs and provides the Toyota C−HR+ with a highly rigid body, low centre of gravity and responsive, controllable vehicle dynamics.
The Toyota C−HR+ exploits the adaptability of the platform, which is scalable for BEVs of multiple types, sizes and drivetrains, to create a unique body and spacious interior.
An underfloor-mounted battery is a key eTNGA design feature. By fixing it to the underfloor frame, torsional rigidity is improved by 30% and the centre of gravity is lowered by 65 mm compared to the Toyota C−HR, while still retaining a ground clearance of 185 mm. This contributes to an agile, engaging drive.
Suspension tuning
Complementing its low centre of gravity and high body rigidity, the Toyota C−HR+ benefits from a dedicated suspension tuning that delivers a fun-to-drive experience. An ideal balance between agility and comfort is achieved by optimising the shock absorber damping force settings, the stabiliser bar and bushes stiffness, and adopting a low height and wheel rate for the coil springs.
The electric power steering has also been mapped specifically for responsiveness. It adjusts the steering characteristics dynamically, providing a light feel at low speed and a more direct sensation at higher speeds.
Regenerative braking
An intuitive and engaging driving experience is provided by the choice of four levels of regenerative braking, which are activated using paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

The high responsiveness of the electric motor allows coasting deceleration of up to 0.15 G when the driver releases the accelerator pedal, operating with a natural feel and compensating for up to 80% of deceleration when driving. This feature not only enhances driver control but also maximises efficiency by replenishing the battery during deceleration.
Noise reduction
To further optimise its smooth ride, the new Toyota C−HR+ also features noise insulating and absorbing materials, and silencers, which have been strategically installed to ensure a peaceful interior space. Optimised body rigidity and high-damping floor adhesive further elevate ride comfort.
