Renault unveils the name of its distinctive and daring future crossover: Renault Filante. This high-end vehicle will strengthen the brand’s product offensive beyond Europe, and is the fifth of the eight opus of its International Game Plan 2027.
Once again Renault reconnects with its heritage: to shape the vehicle at the top of its line-up outside Europe, the brand drew inspiration from its Etoile Filante, a storied aircraft-inspired single-seater engineered to smash speed records, unveiled in 1956.
Its sleek design, avant-garde hallmarks and records – including 300 km/h over 1 km and 5 km – made automotive history. The name also echoes Filante Record 2025, a concept car that set a new record for energy efficiency at the very end of last year.
“Korea has exceptional strength in the D and E segments. This is why Korea is so important to Renault. Filante is the second new-generation model in the Renault International Game Plan 2027 to be designed in Korea. It illustrates our vision of a distinctive and daring crossover, a bold expression of Renault’s global move upmarket. It perfectly embodies the brand’s French roots.”
Nicolas Paris, CEO Renault Korea
Renault Filante will be built at Busan (RK), South Korea, initially launched in its domestic market and then exported to other regions.

Full details about this new model will be revealed in South Korea on January 13 at 8 AM (CET). The reveal will be available live and on replay on Renault’s digital event platform.
Sylvia dos Santos, Naming Manager at the brand’s Global Marketing Department, explains why Renault chose the name Filante:
“Semantically, Filante instantly alludes to shooting stars, outer space and journeys – all of which beautifully reflect our vehicle’s stately design.”
