The Lamborghini Temerario, the only production super sports car capable of reaching 10,000 rpm, was recently tested to its limits at the Misano Adriatico circuit by Squadra Corse Factory Driver Andrea Caldarelli.
Caldarelli stars in the video “The Red Zone,” which showcases both the exceptional performance capabilities of the new Temerario and the rigorous physical conditioning required for endurance racing.
The Temerario features an innovative hybrid powertrain that combines a twin-turbo V8 engine—designed and developed entirely at Sant’Agata Bolognese—with three electric motors, generating a total power output of 920 CV.
This powertrain delivers remarkable performance metrics: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 343 km/h.
The ability to achieve such high engine revolutions stems from motorsport-derived technical solutions, including a flat-plane crankshaft that ensures optimal fluid dynamics through an even firing order between the two banks while producing a distinctive engine note.
The titanium connecting rods, selected for their exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, contribute to reduced weight and rotating mass. Additionally, the racing-inspired design incorporates finger followers with Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating, which increases hardness and durability to withstand speeds up to 11,000 rpm.
Caldarelli offered his professional assessment: “Temerario is an incredible super sports car that combines top level performance with a distinctly fun-to-drive character.
What’s more, the V8 engine provides an unlimited progression, and as the tachometer climbs toward 10,000, you have the sensation of being behind the wheel of a race car, characterized by a unique sound and an authentic and compelling driving experience.”
During testing, Caldarelli experienced two driving features that distinguish the Temerario in terms of driving pleasure: Launch Control and Drift Mode.
Launch Control maximizes the vehicle’s acceleration potential from a standing start and is activated via the “checkered flag” button located at the center of the rotary switch on the left side of the sports steering wheel.
Making its debut on the Temerario, Drift Mode assists drivers in generating controlled oversteer for enhanced driving enjoyment.
This feature is operated using the lower right rotary switch on the steering wheel and offers three distinct levels: level 1 facilitates moderate oversteer while maintaining limited yaw angle, while level 3 is designed for experienced drivers, permitting a wide yaw angle.
