Chevrolet‘s High Country trim, the brand’s top-of-the-line expression for SUVs and trucks, is getting a more modern, athletic look, with the new design arriving first on the 2027 Traverse before extending to the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500.
Phil Zak, Chevrolet’s global executive exterior design director, said High Country plays a clear premium role across the lineup, and that the goal with this update is to push the trim toward a more aspirational identity while keeping it grounded in the capability Chevrolet is known for.
Riding a Wave of Traverse Momentum
The refreshed High Country lands as Traverse continues strong sales momentum, with volume up 20% in the second quarter of 2026 for the nameplate’s best-ever first half, building on record sales in 2025.
Chevrolet notes that High Country buyers specifically tend to be among its most loyal customers, both to the brand and to the Traverse nameplate itself.
What’s New Outside and Inside
Exterior changes include a redesigned High Country badge on the front doors and liftgate, a new Tritan Satin finish on the grille and headlamp accents, and new 22-inch high-gloss black wheels with a machined face.
Inside, updated seating material pairs Jet Black upholstery with Natural Tan accents and matching seatbelt edging, along with debossed first-row headrests and real wood trim, aimed at balancing style with everyday durability.
New Camera Features for 2027
The 2027 lineup also adds several camera-based features. An interior camera — standard on High Country and RS trims and available across the rest of the Traverse lineup — enables Cabin Glance, letting drivers check on kids, pets or other passengers in the second and third rows through a live feed on the center screen.
A Surround Vision Recorder lets drivers capture and save footage from the vehicle’s cameras while driving, while Security Recording automatically starts capturing video if the vehicle’s alarm triggers; both features require a USB drive to store and access recordings.
Capability Behind the Design
As Chevrolet’s modern three-row SUV, Traverse High Country pairs its upscale styling with practical performance, including best-in-class maximum cargo volume of up to 98 cubic feet and a standard 2.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 328 horsepower and 326 lb.-ft. of torque, with trailering capability up to 5,000 pounds.
A 17.7-inch center touchscreen, available Super Cruise hands-free driving assistance, and a full suite of Chevy Safety Assist features round out a package meant to combine a confident, truck-like presence with everyday family usability.
What Comes Next
Chevrolet frames the High Country update as a response to buyers wanting premium styling alongside practical utility, advanced technology and comfort, particularly as more shoppers move into the three-row SUV segment.
The same design direction will carry over to the next-generation 2027 Silverado High Country, which adds its own Tritan Satin grille along with the Silverado’s first panoramic sunroof and more than 60 combined diagonal inches of digital displays.
Production of the 2027 Traverse High Country begins in September at Lansing Delta Township Assembly, using a mix of U.S. and globally sourced parts.
