Summer 2026 brings new standard and optional equipment along with advances in digitalisation, powertrain technology, and practical features designed to make the current BMW range more appealing.

The optional new Black Package will give the top models of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, and BMW i4 Gran Coupé added sporting appeal, while the BMW iX3 will become available with optional heated rear seats.

New Black Package for M Performance Models

The new Black Package makes the M Performance versions of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, and BMW i4 Gran Coupé appear even more dynamic. It is available only in combination with the M Sport package Pro, which includes M Sport brakes in red.

Inside, the Black Package introduces striking motorsport-inspired carbon fibre details. Alongside the Carbon Fibre M interior trim, the M leather steering wheel with carbon decorative trim further emphasises the car’s sporting character. On the exterior, the package adds exclusive black model badges on the rear and sides, plus black 19-inch M light alloy wheels.

The BMW M340i xDrive Sedan comes with 19-inch M light alloy wheels in Double-spoke style 995 M Jet Black with mixed tyres, while additional M light alloy wheels and sport tyres are available as options. The BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé features an additional black model badge in the kidney grille, with both models receiving 19-inch Double-spoke style 861 M Jet Black wheels. These wheels will now also be offered as a separate option for all M Performance models of the BMW 4 Series Coupé, Convertible, and Gran Coupé.

AI-Based Personal Assistant Expands

BMW is adding AI features to the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Through completely natural-sounding conversations, the AI-based assistant elevates voice interaction between humans and vehicles to a new level, understanding natural language and recognising context. Using Amazon Alexa+ AI technology, it becomes a smart assistant for everyday driving.

The German language version launched in the new BMW iX3 from mid-April 2026 production onwards. Vehicles produced before that date are set to receive the feature via software update from the end of May 2026. Further BMW models featuring BMW Operating System 9 and BMW Operating System X will follow from the second half of 2026, with availability extending to additional markets.

New BMW iX3 40 Entry-Level Neue Klasse Model

The BMW iX3 range gains a second powertrain version from summer 2026. The new BMW iX3 40 serves as an entry-level model, featuring the radically new sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology (Gen6) developed specifically for the Neue Klasse, with all components designed for 800-volt technology.

A highly efficient electrically excited synchronous motor is integrated into the rear axle, producing 235 kW/320 hp and 500 Nm of torque to drive the rear wheels. The iX3 40 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 200 km/h. Its high-voltage battery offers 82.6 kWh usable capacity, recharges at up to 300 kW, and delivers a maximum WLTP range of 637 km.

New Colours and Equipment Options

From summer 2026, nine BMW Individual special paint finishes become available across all iX3 variants. Alongside Orinoco pearl effect, Sepang Bronze Metallic, Twilight Purple pearl effect, Grigio Telesto pearl effect metallic, Java Green II metallic, Purple Silk metallic, and Malachite Green metallic, the range also includes Voodoo Blue and Urban Green solid.

New options further include 21-inch M Aerodynamic wheels 1051 M Jet Black and the Contemporary Agave bicolour interior design. Heated rear seats join as a new option, available in conjunction with the optional Innovation package.

M Ignite Technology and Additional Features

All BMW M six-cylinder in-line engines will feature the innovative BMW M Ignite technology from summer 2026. This highly efficient technology consists of a patented pre-chamber ignition system for petrol engines derived from motorsport, enabling a significant reduction in fuel consumption under high loads while helping meet the stringent Euro 7 standard.

The BMW M3 and M4 receive it from July 2026, followed by the M2 from August 2026, with displacement and power outputs unchanged from the outgoing engines.

The BMW 2 Series Coupé, 4 Series Coupé, and 4 Series Convertible will come with the tyre repair kit Plus (Seal & Drive Tire Kit) as standard from summer 2026 for quick, reliable assistance. All BMW X3 models with the M Sport package or M Sport package Plus will feature car keys with BMW M stripes.

From July 2026, BMW Operating System X offers new options for creating routines, with the Intelligent Personal Assistant analysing daily usage patterns to suggest routines and allowing users to build their own custom routines.

The BMW iX3 40 delivers 235 kW/320 hp with WLTP combined energy consumption of 17.3–14.5 kWh/100 km and zero CO₂ emissions.
