Dingolfing Leads BMW Group BEV Production

Plant Dingolfing began series production of all-electric automobiles in 2021 with the BMW iX.

The facility currently builds the widest range of BEV models within the BMW Group: the BMW iX, the BMW i5 sedan and touring, and the BMW i7.

Since 2021, more than 320,000 all-electric vehicles have been built at the Lower Bavarian site, meaning almost one in six of the BMW Group’s total two million BEVs comes from Dingolfing. In 2025, more than a quarter of vehicles produced at Plant Dingolfing were all-electric.

Technology-Open Production Strategy

As part of the BMW iFACTORY, the BMW Group pursues a technology-open approach in its plants, with vehicles featuring different powertrains flexibly produced in mixed build on a single production line.

For several years, at least one all-electric model has rolled off the line at every German BMW Group plant, with e-mobility becoming standard across the company’s production network.

The BMW Group contributes to Germany being the world’s second-largest production location for electric cars.
