STARIA Camper Concept unveiled with 400km range

스타리아 캠퍼 콘셉트, A New Vision of Travel Freedom: Hyundai Unveils STARIA Camper Concept at the CMT in Stuttgart

Hot on the heels of the successful world premiere of STARIA Electric at the recent Brussels Motor Show, Hyundai today unveils the new STARIA Camper Concept at the CMT (Caravan, Motor und Touristik) trade fair in Stuttgart.

Derived from the latest STARIA people carrier, featuring refreshed styling, an updated interior, improved dynamics, and enhanced technologies, the STARIA Camper Concept illustrates how Hyundai’s futuristic MPV could evolve into a premium recreational vehicle tailored to the European market.

Should the concept progress to series production, it would be a fully electric vehicle based on STARIA Electric.

Why is Hyundai exploring an electric camper concept now?

With demand for electric mobility and experiential travel accelerating across Europe, customers are increasingly seeking vehicles that combine everyday usability with the freedom to travel independently and comfortably.

By presenting STARIA Camper Concept at CMT, Hyundai is inviting direct feedback from a wide cross-section of camping, caravan, and adventure enthusiasts from across Europe and beyond. These insights will help assess interest in STARIA as a camper vehicle and may inform the development of a potential production version of the concept.

What makes the STARIA Camper Concept stand out?

Designed to enhance comfort, relaxation, and ease of use while travelling, STARIA Camper Concept unites Hyundai’s extensive experience in developing specialist vehicles with a clear focus on real-world camper needs.

A defining feature is the fully integrated, power-operated pop-up roof, which creates a brighter, more open living space when parked and improves access to the kitchen area.

Engineered to preserve STARIA’s aerodynamic efficiency, the pop-up roof also helps reduce wind noise and buffeting while driving. Finished in the same body-coloured, high-quality material as the rest of the roof, it can be raised or lowered effortlessly at the touch of a button.

Can STARIA Camper Concept support off-grid adventuring?

For explorers seeking greater independence beyond traditional campsites, STARIA Camper Concept is designed to support extended off-grid stays. Integrated into the pop-up roof is a 520W lightweight composite solar panel, capable of generating up to 2.6 kWh of electricity per day, based on an average of five hours of sunlight per day.

The system can extend driving range or support off-grid autonomy for truly adventurous campers by powering onboard features such as a 36-litre refrigerator, a portable shower, and the cabin temperature control system, enabling longer, more self-sufficient journeys.

What about comfort, privacy, and interior accomodation?

To enhance privacy, security, and overall comfort while travelling or resting, the STARIA Camper Concept explores the use of electronically adjustable smart glass in the rear of the cabin.

Controlled via a dedicated touchscreen module, the system allows instant adjustment of transparency and shading, while offering significantly improved UV, thermal, and acoustic insulation compared with conventional glass.

Inside the cabin, two high-specification captain’s chairs at the front can rotate electrically through 180 degrees to create a spacious, lounge-like social area.

At the rear, the seats fold flat at the push of a button, quickly transforming the interior into a comfortable sleeping area for two.

What might underpin the production version of STARIA Camper Concept?

A potential production version of the STARIA Camper Concept would be based on STARIA Electric for the European market. Its advanced 800-volt high-voltage architecture – already proven in IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and IONIQ 9 – enables DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes under optimal conditions.

The 160 kW (218 PS) front-wheel-drive electric powertrain delivers smooth, predictable performance with very low noise and vibration levels, supporting a calm and refined driving experience.

For enhanced ride comfort and a noticeably quieter cabin, particularly on long motorway journeys and under varying load conditions, the vehicle features structural front and rear suspension enhancements along with additional sound-absorbing materials.

With an estimated WLTP driving range of up to 400 kilometres on a single charge, STARIA Electric ranks among the longest-range electric MPVs in its class, underlining its suitability as the foundation for a premium electric camper.

What happens next?

The Hyundai STARIA Camper Concept will remain under evaluation throughout the 2026 CMT in Stuttgart (17–25 January). Visitors are invited to share their feedback directly with Hyundai via an online survey.

Should the concept receive approval for production, Hyundai will announce further details in due course.
